Acts Of Kindness
Our Story
Acts of Kindness CT began as a simple but urgent idea: to redirect surplus food to people who need it most and reduce the amount of edible food that goes to waste. What started as a small, local effort has grown into a structured and sustainable initiative that consistently connects surplus resources with real community need across Connecticut. Over time, it has developed into a coordinated network that includes local and national bakery partners, schools, healthcare centers, and community organizations working together toward a shared mission.
Today, Acts of Kindness CT delivers thousands of meals annually to individuals experiencing homelessness, shelters, encampments, and healthcare workers at three major Connecticut health centers. Beyond food distribution, the initiative has become a platform for student engagement and volunteer service, bringing together people of all ages to participate in meaningful, hands-on community impact. Through consistent collaboration and growing partnerships, the organization continues to expand its reach while staying rooted in its original goal: turning surplus into support and care into action.
